Great Article on Arbitrary Rules of Writing

December 28, 2009

Jesse Liberty is a writer of technical books (computer programming books) and he’s very good.

He just wrote an article or rather a “rant” as he calls it, on silly rules that editors attempt to enforce on him.

I totally agree with him.

Here is his rant: Being a writer, and having an editor. A Short Rant.

My work is being published

April 30, 2008

The wonderful people at Fiction Reborn have accepted some of my short stories and will be publishing them in two anthologies.  One anthology is of my humorous stories and the other is of my more serious stories.

To whet your appetites here are some of the titles and a short description:

  • Extraordinary Forces - What if a hi-tech weapon suddenly appeared in a medieval society?
  • My Many Deaths – What if we could perceive more clearly for some time after death?
  • Resemblance – What if someone were trying to kill you just because you looked like him?
  • The Final Victim – What if a vampire only preyed on suicides?
  • Sneezing – What if sneezing was taboo?
  • The Adventure of the Speeding Train – What if Sherlock Holmes had an adventure he could never tell Dr. Watson about?

So stay tuned and I’ll tell you the when and the where and the how so you can buy this “ill-favored thing, sir, but mine own.” [from As you like it by William Shakespeare]

Intro

April 27, 2008

Everyone needs a blog.  I’m soon going to be published so I’d better get busy creating this blog so the world will know and love my writing and I’ll write and write and write and people will buy and buy and buy and Hollywood will be knocking at my door and money will be flowing like a tropical downpour and … oh, sorry, I was getting carried away.  Do forgive me.  So, where was I … eh … oh, yeah, Everyone needs a blog, so here is my blog about writing.  Hope ya’ll enjoy it.  Leave plenty of comments so I don’t feel lonely, forlorn, lonesome, friendless, alone and abandoned, isolated in my own small world with only a thesaurus to comfort me.  (Jeez, alright already, isn’t this post ever going to end?)
